Saturday, July 24th, 2010Beaver Pageant Bull Gathers Steam
Friday, July 23rd, 2010Our beloved mechanical bull from the 6th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant has found a new home. A little behind-the-scenes brokering has landed the bull a spot at Fullsteam Brewery. Durham’s hottest new brewery opens their tavern doors to the public Friday, August 13th, and our bull will be there to rock, roll, and google-eye all who enter.
But first we have to get it there! Saturday, August 7th, we’ll parade the bull around town a bit before dropping it off at Fullsteam. Would you like to join us? All Beavers welcome! We’ll leave from our secret laboratory workshop near the Scrap Exchange around 1:00 or 2:00. Details are still being worked out. We’ll make our way through part of Durham, on our way to Fullsteam. Note that Fullsteam will NOT be open for business yet. There’s talks of stopping by La Vaquita so our bull can meet their cow, but that’s too far to parade, so we’ll play that by ear.
Send an email to the Lodge if you’re interested in following the bull on August 7th.
Oh, and we need to name him!!!
p.s. – Don’t forget to check out the Beaver Queen Pageant 2010 Indies Art Award.
Indies Art Award 2010
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010“Since 1990, the Independent Weekly has recognized groups and individuals who make extraordinary contributions to the cultural life of the Triangle. The goal is to identify people who are working away from the spotlight, who are quietly organizing, educating, enlightening and, above all, entertaining. We look for grassroots endeavors, as well as arts professionals who go above and beyond their job requirements” from the Independent Weekly
The Beaver Queen Pageant is honored to have received one of the 2010 Indies Arts Awards.
Thanks to all the Beaver Lovers and Tree Huggers who make the magic happen.
Lodge Leak
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010Things are heating up in the lodge. An anonymous package was given to an OB in the wee hours of the morning.
“Pst… Somebody found a recording on the cutting room floor from Bullseye’s late 80’s Rockabeaver period. At the time he was trying to resurrect his career after an unfruitful collaboration with Sinatra that made him seem like was (too) long in the tooth. The studio version of this number went to #13 in the Beaverrboard charts. Bullseye’s not going to do this number at the BQP but I thought someone needed to leak it to the press.”
Some of the contents of the package would be flagged if shared but the recording is for all to hear.
